TRENDS, TIMES AND TONGUES

God is eternally young. He is NOT some old man with a long beard sitting in a rocking chair!

The Gospel is not only cross-cultural … it is omni-cultural. There is always ONE benchmark to apprise whether we are effectively reaching any culture: the cross. One time, after preaching to the usual mega audience, Billy Graham felt discouraged because he sensed a lack of power during the message. A close associate told him, “Billy, you forgot the cross!”

In the world, and nations in particular, there are many cultures and sometimes micro cultures. Within each culture there are subcultures. Sometimes these subcultures overlap national and ethnic boundaries. For example, age stratification: a specific example of which would be youth. The micro cultures within these sub cultures constantly change; some over long periods of time, usually in less civilized, less advanced societies.

TRENDS

An example of a micro culture would be the children in Western and some European cultures labeled Generation Y(or those attempting to emulate them). These are the children of Baby Boomers and fall into the age group of 9 to 23. They are also referred to as the Echo Generation or Millennium Generation. They are more culturally diverse than any other generation and they ENJOY that diversity.

Generation Y is about 60 million in numbers right behind the Baby Boomers who number 72 million; however Generation Y is extremely different. Many are from single parent families, or from families with two working parents … or a grandparent who is taking care of them. As a result they are usually financially responsible and more independent.

Generation Y spends more on consumer goods than Generation X, and because of their numbers, are the targets of major marketing strategies. They are STIMULATED by more information, and more options, and situations that require decision making. They are often accused of growing up too fast. What a PERFECT segment of society to reach with the message of the CROSS and then train to reach the world in these days before the return of Messiah.

Also, you should research the 13^th Gen, America’s 13^th Generation – born between 1961 and 1981.

TIMES

Sometimes culturally diverse societies have a commonality of access. For example, the Internet. As oppressive countries like Iraq and China find that Internet access is NOT optional if they want to do business in the global market, they have begun bringing the Internet into their geopolitical borders. Countries like China try to control free speech and thought on the Internet but that’s like trying to hide sugar from ants.

Dictators who have tried to control the dissemination of information via the Internet have NOT developed an effective counter measure … and are NOT likely to do so. The technology gap between keeping the Internet out of an oppressive regime and that regime surviving in the global market is fast closing.

Check this out. The Internet is ridiculed for its ability to quickly disseminate a “lie” … consider all the Spam hoax emails you’ve received. As helplessly as we try to eliminate Spam, so oppressive governments will NOT be able to”filter” out the TRUTH! Another PERFECT segment of society to reach with the message of the CROSS and then train to reach the world in these days before the return of Messiah. Think about it … and I suggest: ACT EXPEDITIOUSLY!

TONGUES

For creativity, power, wisdom, and direction pray in the Spirit. The Holy Spirit knows HOW to reach the cultures and micro cultures. He is their Creator! Also, the Spirit of God will anoint your project(s). The Bible tells us, “Not by power nor by might, but by my Spirit says the Lord.”
The Baptism in the Holy Spirit may provide a person with a special spirit of ability or talent, such as:

         A spirit of craftsmanship;

         A spirit of music;

         A spirit of art;

         A spirit of creativity.

In Exodus 31, verses 1-11, a man named Bezaleel was filled with the Spirit of God in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship. He was enabled by the Spirit to work in gold, silver, and brass; in cutting and setting stones, and in carving wood: to help in the building of the tabernacle. Another example … about 500 years later, King David said that the pattern of the temple which his son, Solomon, built was given to David “by the spirit”. “All this,” said David, “the Lord made me understand in writing by his hand upon me, even all the works of this pattern.” [I Chronicles 28:12-19]

Many times you will also need protection as you work on a projects like we have discussed in this newsletter.

I knew of a high school teacher who was a wonderful witness for the Jesus Christ. One day a group of students who were Satanists or witches had a curse placed on a tape recording. They called the teacher on his telephone to play the recording to him. Before the teacher answered the phone, the Spirit impressed him to speak in tongues when he answered the phone. The teacher obeyed the Holy Spirit and the tape recorder on the other end of the line blew up (exploded). The next day at school this group of students told him they wanted what he had (about 10 of them as I remember) and he prayed with them to receive Christ!

In a school of ministry where I was Dean the host pastor related a story of a Christian girl who was abducted by a group of young men. They took her in a car with the intent of raping her. The girl was a Christian, from a Christian home. Her parents were Spirit-filled; however, she had never received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Suddenly she decided it might help if she had this Power. She prayed to be baptized in the Spirit. When the Holy Spirit came upon her, she spoke in tongues. The young men let her out of the car unharmed.

I prayed for an aunt of mine who was in the hospital more than 1,000 miles away. I had not seen her in years. I did NOT know what was wrong with her; only that the Lord told me to call her and pray for her in tongues. I did NOT know but she had an abdominal cancer as big as a person’s fist and was to have surgery the next day. When I prayed for her in tongues, the language of the Spirit, the cancer dissolved (disappeared) and she was healed instantly and did NOT have to have the surgery. Praise God!

A good friend of mine, John Garlock, was raised as an MK (missionary kid) in Africa. His father, H.B. Garlock was a tremendous man of God and wrote a book named Before They Kill and Eat You. You may special order it at any most Christian book stores or from CFNI (Christ for the Nations Institute) in Dallas, Texas USA. Deep in the interior of a jungle region he encountered a tribe who had tied a native to a stake or tree and was preparing to burn him alive.
The elder Garlock attempted to intercede for the man, pleading with the tribal leaders to let the man go and have mercy on him. His plans failed and they then tied up Garlock next to the native, preparing to burn them both. Garlock prayed and began to speak in tongues, the language of the Spirit. Whatever the Holy Spirit uttered through him so scared the attackers that they ran away and left the men unharmed.

The Holy Spirit will also guide you as well as anoint you for creativity, power, and wisdom. Jesus said, “He [The Comforter] will guide you into all truth” … AND … “He will show you things to come.” The Spirit will not only guide you into spiritual and scriptural truth, especially the knowledge of salvation in Jesus the Messiah, but He will guide you into truth and protect you from deception in earthly matters if you seek Him and wait on Him. He will show you things to come, not only in spiritual and scriptural issues, but also in your life … many times warning you ahead of time of impending danger or an unwise move if you seek Him and wait on Him.

The Apostle Paul received a prophecy NOT to go up to Jerusalem, but He did because the Spirit led him to. Another time he attempted to go into areas that he was constrained by the Spirit to NOT enter … until the Spirit directed him to another place where God wanted him. Let God’s Spirit guide you in the projects and fields of labor where HE wants you. The Holy Spirit knows what is BEST for you and the people to which you are to minister!

SUMMARY

There are different TRENDS throughout the years and throughout your lifetime and ministry. There are different TIMES of refreshing as well as seasons of opportunity. There are different ministries as well as gifts of the Holy Spirit … but only ONE LORD. Appropriate what He has made available to you and never forget to communicate the MESSAGE of the CROSS: the POWER of God unto salvation!

BINDING AND LOOSING
~ A MIRACLE PODCAST PRODUCTION ~

MUSIC / INTRO

A few years ago the LORD started speaking to me about “Binding and Loosing.” Although I knew the basic precepts of “Binding and Loosing” and had used those scriptural principles for years in situations dealing with spiritual authority, the LORD was impressing me to be more active and militant in the use of them.

Let’s first look into what the scripture says concerning this teaching of Jesus. After the Apostle Peter declared to Yeshua (Jesus), “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God,” the Lord gave him KEYS as to how he would build His Kingdom. He told Shimon (Peter):

“And I will give unto you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven: and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
– Matthew 16:19 (NKJV)

A little while later – in teaching about dealing with problems in interpersonal relationships and also within the body of believers – Jesus said the following:

“Assuredly I say unto you, Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven: and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
– Matthew 18:18 (NKJV)

Interestingly enough, if we examine this passage in the original language – [See Footnotes at bottom of show notes for language info.] Jesus probably spoke Hebrew in both of these passages as He was teaching His talmidim (disciples) and they were ALL Jewish, but the text was later recorded into Koine Greek (the lingua franca of the day) – we see an amazing truth. In the original we are reading literally: “Whatever you bind (or loose) on earth shall already have been bound (or loosed) in heaven.” The verb form reflects action that has been achieved in the past has now become active in the present. The past action refers to Messiah’s complete triumph on the cross-stake.

Now that we have discussed this important truth, let me share how God dealt with me. Shortly after the LORD began speaking to me to be more active and militant in “binding and loosing” I was flying to Cincinnati (USA) to teach at a seminar and miracle meeting. A Baptist pastor picked me up at the airport and on the way to the church we had to put the automobile on a ferry or barge to cross a river. The pastor and I were outside the car on the boat ferry and he began to tell me an amazing thing.

He told me, “God has been dealing with me about ‘binding and loosing.’” I had NOT told him that the LORD had been dealing with me about the same thing. It was a blessed seminar with the presence of the Holy Spirit. However, I soon forgot about what the pastor had told me.

Later I was in Africa for about one month and the LORD worked mighty in MIRACLES ad healings and salvation … opening doors for me to minister in many public schools. The gifts of the Spirit operated wonderfully and students were healed and saved. The same day I returned home, I received a message from a pastor who asked me to come to his home and minister to a young minister. He told me the minister had a mighty youth ministry but was discouraged because of people in the “false covering” movement trying to hold him back and control him. I said to my friend, “I just returned from Africa and need to rest. I will not come now, but if the LORD leads me to come minister to the young man I will call you.”

About 3 days later (which was the last day the young man would be in town … he lived about 1,800 miles / 2900 km away), God told me to go visit him. I called my friend and told him and he invited me to dinner that evening. During my visit, the LORD gave me a prophecy for the young man. I told him, “Go back and start a church!” That church has different campuses in two different states and I think over 10,000 members.

While visiting at the pastor’s house, before I left, he told me, “There are some people you need to meet.” Again, I mentioned that I needed some rest; however, the LORD told me: “Meet these people.” I invited the people to my home, and what a blessing it was. There last name was Morse, and one of them had written a book titled, Exodus to a Hidden Valley,, by Eugene Morse. (There is also a Reader’s Digest account of their ministry; however, it is “toned down” as they had to work in collaboration with the publishers.)

There were three generations of them visiting me: grandfather, father and son. The family (from oldest to youngest) had ministered in Burma (Indo-China) for 51 years (from oldest to younngest) and had been imprisoned by the Communists three times. There was lots of demonization and false religions in that area in Southeast Asia: the majority praciticing Theravada-Buddhism with some of the tribal people practicing animism and shamanism.

The Morse’s told me that they had labored almost without fruit – without people coming to Christ – for years. Then, the LORD told them to “bind” Satan and cast him out of the areas where they would be ministering. Immediately they started seeing people come to Christ. Then, the LORD instructed them to “loose” the Holy Spirit” into the areas where they would be ministering. After that, a great harvest of souls – people receiving Christ – resulted. As I remember around 65,000 people received the LORD and many were baptized in water. They labored for the LORD among the Lisu tribe and helped in the migration – the escape – of 1,000’s of Christians into and through the jungle.

THE KEY

 God is waiting upon you to to do the “binding and loosing.” He is wanting YOU to do your part and work with Him in intercession. When you do your part – binding and loosing – then the finished work of Christ takes effect … and what you have bound or loosed … will already have been bound or loosed in Heaven!

So, my challenge to you is this: Take advantage of “binding and loosing.” Your leader, Jesus the Messiah, taught this. And remember, “Whatever you bind (or loose) on earth shall already have been bound (or loosed) in heaven.” Listen to God … and NOT men!

What is that GREAT thing you want to do for God? What is the deep stirring in your heart for ministry unto the LORD? Nations and unreached tribal groups are hanging in the balance: waiting for you to be the one who reaches them … or, who coordinates projects to reach them … in these Last Days.

Now … YOU can reach the world for Christ. And remember, “binding and loosing” can be used for other than ministry. Learn to use it actively and militantly … just like the LORD instructed me.

ADDENDUM

Recently the LORD instructed me to start a new project for Him in the Kurdish language. One of the attributes of the Holy Spirit is to “show us things to come.” After the LORD had us start this project, the Kurds recently took over the oil fields and the city of Kirkuk in Iraq. It is prime time to reach Kurdistan (the northern portion of Iraq and bordering Iran on the east) with the Good News of Jesus. Amazingly enough, the two books shown above, Map of the End Times and Flow Chart of Revelation reveal the specifics of Babylon in Iraq and its prophetic significance.

As far as I know, years ago I was the first teacher to write on the specifics of how Babylon in Revelation is a literal city. (Many prophecy teachers have taught for years that Babylon represents Rome and the Roman Catholic Church.) The two books mentioned above clearly define the specifics. The Kurds are the ancient people known as the Medes in Bible prophecy and play a significant role in the destruction of Babylon. (Isaiah 13:17; Jeremiah 51:11; and Jeremiah 51:28-29). 1. Hebrew was regarded as Lashon Ha-Kodesh, the sacred language of the Jewish people. Independent linguistic evidence indicates that Hebrew was used as a common language during the late second Temple period. For example, J.T. Milik wrote, “Mishnaic [Hebrew] … was at that time the spoken dialect of the inhabitants of Judaea” (Ten Years of Discovery in the Wilderness of Judaea).

HOW TO LIVE A LONG LIFE & SUCCEED

MUSIC / INTRO

Do the RIGHT thing!

“Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that you may LIVE, and go in and POSSESS the land which the LORD God of your fathers gives you.” [Deuteronomy 4:1]

The Hebrew word for “live” in the above passage is “chayah” meaning “to keep alive, nourish, recover, repair, restore, and be whole.”

The Hebrew word for “possess” used above is “yarash” which means “to occupy by driving out previous tenants and possessing in their place, to seize, to inherit, to take possession.”

In the parable of the nobleman [Luke 19:13] Jesus alluded to the fact that we need to “occupy, or do business” until He returns again. We need to be good stewards of our resources:

1. What He has put into our hands (all that He has given us by birth, adoption, or assignment);

2. And, of our life and strength.

The Greek word for “occupy” is “pragmateuomai” which means “to busy oneself, to trade.” In other words, strive to be productive and successful while you are carrying out the Lord’s business. Don’t become inactive. Live a long life and succeed . . . take possession of the enemy’s territory and rule it! (See “Note” at the end of these shownotes.)

MUSIC

This is one aspect of the ABUNDANT LIFE which the Messiah of Israel promised us: not only LIFE but FLOURISHING LIFE.

Moses instructed the people of Israel, “Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which you shall command your children to observe and do, all the words of this law. For it is not a VAIN thing for you; because it [the Word of God] is your LIFE; and through this thing you shall PROLONG your days in the land, where you go over Jordan to POSSESS it.” [Deuteronomy 32:46-47]

The Hebrew word for “vain” above is “req” which means “futile.” It is saying in the original Hebrew that the Word of God is “not empty or worthless” but it will . . . if you observe and do it . . . give you LONG LIFE and SUCCESS in driving out the enemy and POSSESSING his territory. Here’s what you can count on:

1. Length of days;
2. Wholeness and nourishment;
3. Success;
4. Possession of the inheritance.

Length of days, wholeness and nourishment, success, and possession of the inheritance are yours!

In one of King David’s Psalms he writes, “By this I know that You are well pleased with me, because my enemy does not triumph over me.” [Psalm 41:11]

MUSIC

Scripture also tells us, “When a man’s ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.” [Proverbs 16:7]

As God gives you success, and as you drive out the enemy and possess his land, people will many times be jealous of you. Sometimes these may be brethren in the faith who are jealous of you. The enemy of your soul will try many ways to oppress you and to destroy your HEALTH. If your health (mental, physical, or spiritual) is weakened you will not be able to fight strongly and you will not live a long life to keep administering the areas God has given you to possess.

You must have BOTH success and a long life of wholeness in order to administer effectively the areas He gives you to possess. Unless God has chosen you to be a martyr, you must have health, length of days, and a long life to maximize the occupation of your victory!

This is why you must not only LISTEN and OBSERVE the Word of the Lord, but you must DO His Word. Then you will LIVE and POSSESS the land . . . and you will PROLONG YOUR DAYS in the land you go to POSSESS. [Deuteronomy 4:1 and 32:46-47]

Proverb 28:9 tells us, “One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is abomination.”

The great passage that sparked the Reformation in the time of Martin Luther was Habakkuk 2:4: “Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him; but the just shall LIVE by his FAITH.” It is literally saying that the person whose soul is “swelled” or “presumptuous” is not “straight or right” . . . not “pleasant or prosperous.” The root word for “LIVE” in this passage is the same Hebrew word “chayah” used in Deuteronomy 4:1 that we discussed above, and means “to keep alive, nourish, recover, repair, restore, and be whole.”

In other words, the person who does WHAT IS RIGHT will be continue to be nourished, restored, and whole by means of the FIRMNESS and CONSISTENCY of his faith: his fidelity and conscientiousness! Because of his solid belief he does the right thing!

“A FAITHFUL man will abound with blessings, but he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished.” [Proverbs 28:20] The word for “faithful” here used is from the same root as the word for “faith” in Habakkuk 2:4. A man of firmness and stability through faith will have abundant blessings.

Moses said, “I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing . . . choose LIFE so that you and your children may LIVE so that you may LOVE the LORD your God, that you may OBEY His voice, and that you may CLING to Him, for He is your LIFE and the LENGTH of your DAYS, and that you may dwell in the land . . .” [Deuteronomy 19-20]

Do the RIGHT thing!
