VISION, VALOR, AND VICTORY

King Hezekiah was a man who did what was good, right, and truthful. Everything he was involved in was carried out with all his heart; and he prospered.

“This Hezekiah did throughout all Judah, and he did what was good and right and true before the Lord his God. And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, in the law and in the commandment, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart. So he prospered.” [2 Chronicles 31:20-21]

All people should live a life that is right before God, but leaders especially have a greater responsibility to do so. With that responsibility comes an attendant blessing. When you are in the arena, you will be shot at. If you want to be used greatly by God, then make your mind up ahead of time that you are NOT going to quit, and you are NOT going to run away!

If you quit, you can’t win. But if you don’t quit, you’ll win!

This doesn’t mean that you will have the strength or wisdom in your self; but you are determined to stand in faith, believing and drawing upon the resources of God.

The Assyrians were a cruel and treacherous military force. They resorted to terrible means of torture and were also a formidable foe. After Hezekiah’s deeds of faithfulness, Sennacherib king of Assyria came and entered Judah. He encamped against the fortified cities, thinking to win them over to himself.

When Hezekiah saw this, and realized that Sennacherib’s purpose was to make war against Jerusalem, he gathered his leaders and commanders together and encouraged them.

“Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is before him: for there are more with us than with him. With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah. [2 Chronicles 32:7-8]

Because of the impending danger, King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah prayed and cried out to heaven. Then the Lord sent an angel who cut down every mighty man of valor, every leader, and every captain in the army of Assyria. So the King of Assyria returned shamefaced to his own land, and was killed by his own family.

“And it came to pass on a certain night that the angel of the Lord went out, and killed in the camp of the Assyrians 185,000 men; and when people arose early in the morning, there were the corpses – all dead.” [2 Kings 19:35; 2 Chronicles 32:9-23]

God still uses angels today. Psalm 34:7 tells us “The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them.” Surely there are many times the angels deliver and protect us and we don’t even know about it. But, in addition – like many of the promises of God – we need to KNOW God’s Word so we can ACCESS God’s resources. We need to appropriate them by faith. We need to BELIEVE and PRAY as Hezekiah did. Vision begins with a purpose … and that purpose is to SEE the dream become a reality! There are five (5) basic steps in this process:

1. Dream;

2. Plan;

3. Preparation;

4. Logistics; and,

5. Action.

In action – and sometimes in the first four steps above – we engage the adversary as Hezekiah did. We implement our plans and put in place those things and people we have prepared, and that the Lord has assigned to us. Then we utilize the resources within our command to take action. Gideon had some clay vessels and candles. Moses had a rod. What is it that God has placed in your hand? What are those things you will BELIEVE God to bring into your access? It is your duty to use your faith. Faith is your servant. Read Luke 17:5-10.

Many times it is the thing that is in our hand or our heart that is our greatest resource. Are we turning the gifts of God away through unbelief? Are we afraid to leave our comfort zone? Use your faith – it is your DUTY to use it! I am reminded of a man and his wife who won $1,000,000 USD. When the authorized bearers of the prize tried to contact the couple, they were repeatedly turned away. The man and his wife would not answer their phone calls, or respond to their letters. They thought it was a joke. Finally, the man and his wife decided that they would at least see what the communication was about. The bearers of the prize were authorized one more time to attempt delivery to the man and his wife. They responded at the last minute.

How many times do we NOT receive God’s MIRACLES because of unbelief, or because of taking things for granted? We have the ability to DREAM and IMAGINE. We can establish a VISION and believe God for its fulfillment. When was the last time you dreamed for God? Imagine what your life and ministry would be like if the present hindrances were removed. One of the great promises in the Holy Bible is found in Jeremiah 33:3. “Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things which you do not know.”

In his book The Weight of Glory, C. S. Lewis said “Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak.” What can you IMAGINE or THINK? For what can you ASK God? “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” [Ephesians 3:20]

Once your dream is starting to take form – that is, when it becomes a reality – your VALOR will be tested: by God … and by the enemy of your soul: the devil. You will have to make up your mind ahead of time to be a champion, to be valiant. God is looking for champions like the people of faith who went before us, who “Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.” [Hebrews 11:34]

As you move out with the VISION, know that God has designed your VICTORY, but you have to have VALOR and stand in faith, calling upon Him for strength, wisdom, and MIRACLES. One thing that will help you is when you realize that God will use your enemy to help promote you: just like He did Pharaoh. God hardened Pharaoh’s heart so that the Lord would be SET APART in the eyes of the Egyptians. And so God will use the reality of your vision so that He might be set apart in the eyes of people in every nation, tribe, family, and language of the earth. [Exodus 9:13-16; Romans 9:17] Just as God used angelic ministry to help King Hezekiah and his people, so God will use the angels to help you, if you will PRAY and CRY OUT to Heaven like Hezekiah and Isaiah.

The magicians could not stand before Moses [Exodus 9:11], and neither will the enemy’s people stand before you. There will be a severance – a setting apart – for God’s servants. There is a difference for those anointed for ministry: not “haphazard” ministry, but ministry anointed through prayer, fasting, listening, and obedience! The Lord makes a difference between His people and the people of the enemy. Read prayerfully the following verses; they are God’s Word for you at this time:

Exodus 8:23;

Exodus 9:26;

Exodus 11:7

The two most important things you can do to enlarge your VISION and engage the enemy with VALOR are:

1. Sit at the feet of Jesus; and,

2. Live holy.

Then your VICTORY will be assured!

HOW TO MAINTAIN A POSITION OF SPIRITUAL POWER

One of the definitions of power is “the capacity to influence other people or the course of events.” In my last teaching titled “Decision, Determination, and Destiny” (the story of Ruth) we saw that Ruth was propelled from poverty to status as a world class influence because of her willingness:

1. To change;

2. To learn; and,

3. To receive.

Once she obtained her position of power as the wife of Boaz, she maintained it and ultimately became a member of Royal Ancestry: it was through her seed line that the Messiah Jesus was born. Through her progeny … because of her decision to make major changes … every person on Planet Earth has the decision making ability to choose to go to Heaven and live with God forever.

Question: What are you doing with the talents, skills, and abilities which Almighty God has given you? What are you doing in your position of power . . . or ARE YOU in a position of power?

When I’m in my home area I walk out in the mornings on the patio and see some of the most beautiful buildings in the world: great challenges of engineering, architecture, and construction; inspiring and aesthetic grandeur. I think of how God gave men the skills, the wisdom, and the materials to make such awesome objects of beauty. How much more excellent is the universe which God created … and how wonderful the human body which God created?

I then think about the buildings, as beautiful as they are, being in a CLOSED SYSTEM. Then I see the trees near the buildings: gorgeous palm trees, even evergreen trees, and also some deciduous trees. And, I realize the new trees – while growing – are in an OPEN SYSTEM.

Once the last weldment, the last wall board, the finish trim are in place … a building is then in a CLOSED SYSTEM. It starts the process of deterioration, and through the years needs maintenance … possible restoration … until it has seen its last days.

A fetus in the womb of its mother is in an OPEN STATE. It is developing and growing, but as soon as it parts the womb it is then on a path of limited number of years and becomes a CLOSED SYSTEM.

The Bible tells us that our average life span is 70 to 80 years; of course, some people – like my mother – live much longer … and of course, some people live much shorter. We should at the least expect this average longevity and believe God for it.

“The days of our years are threescore and ten; and if by reason of strength they are fourscore years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off and we fly away.” [Psalm 90:10]

This Psalm, of course, was written under the Old Covenant (or, Testament). Thank God, when we know Yeshua ha Meshiach (Jesus the Messiah) personally we can experience JOY every day of our life, even in times of trial and heartbreak. We can LEARN how to create an open system … that will develop from and during the closed system of this mortal life on earth … through parallel goals that will endure throughout eternity.

We hear a lot of talk today about having an “exit plan,” especially with reorganization in countries like Iraq and Afghanistan. It is important for us to have an exit plan. Our exit plan should be EQUAL TO OR GREATER THAN our long term goal(s). We should also have parallel goals: one of which is consistently the same. The goal which is always the same is this: to honorably represent Messiah and give glory to God.

The other parallel goal will be determined when we spend time with God in His Word and in prayer as we RECEIVE His will for our lives. If we are in the PERFECT CENTER OF HIS WILL, then what we do … God does!

When the children of Israel were at the edge of the Red Sea, being chased by Pharaoh and 600 of his chosen chariots of war, God told Moses, “But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea, and divide it; and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the middle of the sea.” [Exodus 14:16]

However, in verse 21 we read, “Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea: and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.”

After you have heard from God, you have to take the “step of faith.” When the children of Israel were at the Jordan River ready to go into the promised land, the water did not part until the priests put their feet into the water.

Other than finding Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) as your personal savior, here’s one of the greatest things you can learn in life:

IF YOUR PLAN FITS INTO GOD’S PLAN …

………. YOU WILL HAVE GOD’S FAITH …

……………….. AND GOD’S FAITH ALWAYS WORKS!

That’s why some people never fail permanently. They may hit the pit 10 or 20 times, but they always rise up victoriously! “For a just man falls seven times, and rises up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.” [Proverb 24:16]

If you are not in an open state at this time, then ask yourself: “Why?” Don’t blame someone else. If it is a problem of sin, then pray and ask God to forgive you. Repent … turn from the situation or practice that is keeping you from spiritual growth and development. If you do not know yeshua as your Lord … then pray and ask Jesus to take control of your life … to save you and lead you the rest of your time here on earth.

Develop the habit of asking the Holy Spirit to teach you something from the Bible every day that will help you in learning about your two parallel goals:

GOAL #1 – To honorably represent Messiah and give glory to God.

GOAL #2 – To accomplish the GREAT WORK for which you were created; the thing that is the DEEP DESIRE within your heart.

Once we have established a position of spiritual power, we need to maintain it. As in football, basketball, baseball, rugby, or any sport … our best defense is a good offense! Build relationships with other people … don’t burn them! Rabbi Shaul (Paul) was constantly building good, permanent relationships by leading people to Messiah and by training them to be disciples and followers of the Lord.

We need to be soul winners. I know some rabbis and ministers who go a whole day never telling anyone about Messiah … and then use the excuse that their job is only to equip the believers. The real JOY of life is helping people find eternal life through Yeshua and then helping them to grow and be productive leaders.

In a previous teaching, Keys To Foundational Relationships, we discussed that sometimes it is God’s will for us to break off relationships, but that is surely NOT the case all the time! If you have a problem constantly breaking off relationships with people, then ask God for healing.

Usually such problems arise out of insecurity or out of “fear of failure” to handle situations: insecurity that is usually imbedded from childhood; or, “fear of failure” resulting from repeated past negative performance. Also, the problems may occur sometimes because of a bad spirit (a demon) and must be dealt with by prayer, confession of the Word of God, and sometimes counseling accompanied by exorcism.

Remember, with Messiah Yeshua you have a new start every day. Learn to cultivate good friendships with people. Show them . . . and yourself … that the Holy Spirit lives in you.

King Saul was a classic case of a “bridge-burner.” King David was a classic case of a “bridge builder.” [1 Samuel Chapters 10 through 31] “Bridge-burning” usually results from insecurity, fear, or jealousy … or a combination of them; and often manifests with the OLD order trying to “spear” the NEW order to the wall. King Saul was jealous of the anointing from God upon David! He was mad at David and afraid of him because God was with him. [1 Samuel 18:5-12]

Be aware of something: The “new order” does not necessarily mean young in age or seniority … or inexperienced. The “new order” can be older people … seasoned, experienced people … breaking away from established form: form that was once fresh with the Spirit.

If we find ourselves in the “old order”, we need to build bridges with the “new order” to establish UNITY for the Lord’s sake. This will accomplish two things:

1. It will assure that we are open to what the Spirit is doing; and,

2. It will place us in a position of blessing to receive a new anointing, and to receive God’s best as a “peace-maker” for unity’s sake [Matthew 5:9]). This way we maintain a position in an OPEN SYSTEM.

When we pray the suggested guidelines for daily prayer as the Lord suggested (the disciple’s prayer [Luke 11:1-4]), we are asking for God’s will … and IF we mean what we pray … we will be open to what God WANTS and what God DOES. God wants unity among his people and He honors “bridge-building” [Ephesians 4:3]. To fulfill your service to the world and to maintain your position of power in an OPEN SYSTEM, you must build bridges!

Maybe you have had a problem with this in the past … or maybe you are having a problem with this NOW. Your situation may be one where a person is angry with you … maybe rightfully so, or maybe wrongfully. Well … I’ve got good news for you. It’s “turn around” time. Here is a promise you can claim:

“Surely the wrath of man shall praise you [God]: and the remainder of wrath you shall restrain.” [Psalm76:10]

Pray and ask God to turn the situation around and make the past anger, or wrath, turn into praise to God. Let the situation PRAISE HIM! And then, ask God to RESTRAIN the remainder of the wrath so there will be no more anger. It works; I’ve used that promise many times.

Two other things that are very important in maintaining an OPEN SYSTEM, and of which we should be cognizant, are as follows:

1. To ACKNOWLEDGE the help and work of those with whom we are associated.

2. To develop the ability to graciously RECEIVE.

Now YOU … like Ruth … can be a world class influence: operating in an open system of spiritual power, and changing nations and generations for eternity!

HOW TO LEAD A MULTITUDE OF PEOPLE

DESCRIPTION:

How to conquer and then divide the inheritance by teaching those you lead how you won: teaching them their authority in the Lord Messiah, so they can conquer and win, too. How to lead a large number of people efficiently, powerfully, and productively in love.

HOW TO LEAD A MULTITUDE OF PEOPLE

Joshua was Moses’ Chief aide and military leader; he became Israel’s leader after Moses’ death. Joshua led the people across the Jordan and into the promised land.

Seven (7) nations were destroyed in the land. After the conquest of the land by the children of Israel, the land was divided among the tribes of Israel.

There were tremendous MIRACLES in Joshua’s day:

• The crossing of Jordan.

• The fall of Jericho

• The sun standing still.

NOTE: All these miracles had to do with getting God’s people into the land and driving out the enemy! They were involved in God’s plan and purpose to prepare the world for Messiah! If you’re involved in God’s PLAN and PURPOSE to reach the world for Messiah, God will do GREAT MIRACLES for and through you!

Remember: The KEY to the Tanakh (Old Testament): “A record of a nation designed to bring forth a Man (the Messiah of God).” The KEY of the Brit Chadashah (New Testament) is: “A record of a Man (the Messiah of God) designed to bring forth a nation (the people of God).”

“For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” — I John 3:8

Your job is the same as Joshua’s. To go into new territory and conquer for the Lord; to destroy the works of the devil; and then to divide the land (inheritance) among God’s people.

You might ask, “How do I divide the land among God’s people?” Here’s your answer, “By teaching them their authority in Messiah Yeshua … WHO they are in Messiah and WHAT they have in Messiah … by teaching them HOW you conquered, and sharing the blessings you have received, so they will know how to conquer: HOW TO WIN!”

THOUGHT:

Do you have your orders from God like Moses and Joshua? Are you operating in the perfect center of God’s will for your life? If not, PRAY, and ask God to show you His plan for your life. Spend time ALONE with God daily in your prayer closet (a regular place where you can meet with Him). If your plan fits into God’s plan, you will have God’s faith: and God’s faith always works!

READ IT AGAIN:

If your plan fits into God’s plan …
you will have God’s faith …
and God’s faith always works!

TO LEAD A GREAT BODY OF PEOPLE, SEEK GOD’S ADVICE & FOLLOW IT!

Moses led over 3,000,000 people through the wilderness. Multiply the male census (603,550) by 2 (allowing each man a wife) = 1,200,000 and then figure 3 children (minimum) for every family (3 X 600,000 = 1,800,000). Whenever a major problem arose, he prayed and talked to God about it before he took action.

The one time he acted foolishly, when he did not take God’s advice, cost him earthly blessings. He became angry so that he “hit” the rock instead of “speaking” to it. Forty years before, God had told him to “hit”the rock and water would come out for the people to drink.

However, near the end of the wilderness wanderings, when the people were complaining over thirst again, God told him only to SPEAK to the rock and water would come out. Moses became angry and, even though the fault was with the people he was leading, the Bible says: “he spoke UNADVISEDLY with his lips”. (He called them a bunch of rebels.) Read Exodus 17:1-7; Numbers 20:1-13; and Psalm 106:32-33.

1. Make sure YOUR PLAN fits into GOD’S PLAN.

2. Seek God’s advice and follow it.

3. Teach people their authority in Messiah. (Divide the land among God’s people.)

If your plan fits into God’s plan … you will have God’s faith … and God’s faith always works!

POWER KEYS FOR SUCCESSFUL RELATIONSHIPS

I have now been ministering for over 40 years. Through these years I have discovered seven (7) Power Keys for successful relationships. If you will adhere to these keys outlined in this newsletter, you will have an unshakeable foundation for your life, your family, and your ministry.

KEY 1 – BE COMMITTED FIRST TO GOD.

This commitment starts with daily Bible reading and study. God will lead you in whatever commitments you need to make to, or with, people.

KEY 2 – GIVE POSITIVE SUPPORT TO THE ONES TO WHOM YOU COMMIT.

Tell the people you’re committed to: God will fight for us! Criticize the devil … NOT people!

KEY 3 – BE ENCOURAGED IN HOW GOD HAS WORKED THROUGH YOU, AND THROUGH OTHERS, IN THE PAST.

Forget disappointments: in people or events. Do NOT look back, except at the successes and the good.

KEY 4 – MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN CONTROL – ALWAYS CONTROL:

Activities – have a plan! Remember to plan for recreation and rest

The devil

Associations

KEY 5 – GIVE – HAVE FUN GIVING – A LIFE OF SERVICE.

Stay under the anointing by giving out to others in the name of Jesus. As you minister to others, you will be ministered to! Look for needs to meet: people who need healing; people who need help, counsel, or prayer – and then meet the need.

As you pray for others, or help them, or minister to them, you will between them and God. You will be under the anointing! As you pray for the sick, the healing power of Christ will flow through you. As you encourage others, you will be encouraged. Also, you will reap what you sow. As you give to the poor, God will give back to you!

KEY 6 – BE RESPONSIBLE – HAVE A BASE OF OPERATIONS.

Always have a place where people can contact you: where the LIFE of Christ can flow through you to help them or to follow up with them – you want them to GROW and become POWERFUL and PRODUCTIVE in Christ!

KEY 7 – PRAY IN THE LANGUAGE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND IN YOUR LANGUAGE.

Build yourself up continually in your relationships with God and with people by praying! Start and continue your day praying in tongues and in your language. Let the Holy Spirit build you up and, also, pray intelligently in matters for which you do NOT know what to pray.

SUMMARY

You need to have strong relationships with God and with those people with which God will lead you to work. Appreciate the people with which God has chosen you to work. However, do NOT try to force relationships: do not make commitments to every person you meet. God will show you those people to whom you should be committed when you are FIRST committed to Him!

Give positive support, or reinforcement to those people to whom you are committed – whether:

They are OVER YOU in a position of authority;

You are OVER THEM; or,

You are on the same level (working or ministry associates).

Remind each other that God will fight for us! Give your associates REWARDS from time-to-time for:

The good work they do;

Their consistency and faithfulness; or,

Their availability.

These rewards do not (always) have to be monetary. Sometimes a pat on the back, or a word of encouragement, is really meaningful: letting them know the good they are doing is not going unnoticed. Let people KNOW you are THANKFUL and APPRECIATIVE of their association with you. Maybe an invitation to dinner, or just spending time alone with them or their family, whether it is a few minutes or a day or two.

It is also important for a man to give positive support to his wife. There are so many ways a wife serves a husband in his ministry that may go unnoticed by him. We need to appreciate those nearest to us, and never to take them for granted. This is where family altar is so important: do not neglect ministering to your own family! They may be your GREATEST DISCIPLES! Read and discuss the Holy Bible together, and then pray together.

It is good to spend time refreshing your mind thinking about all the successes God has given you in the past. God has NOT brought you this far to make you fail. God is FOR you! One time the disciples of Jesus were in a ship in the middle of the sea where the waves were rough and the wind was strong. They became fearful until Jesus came to them on the water and told them not to be afraid. They FORGOT that the Lord had commanded them to GO to the other side. He did NOT intend them to sink or to fail. Jesus intends for you to SUCCEED!

Take time to study in the Holy Bible how others have succeeded: Abraham, Joseph, Daniel, Esther, Mordecai, and the Apostles. Study Militant Church History by Apostle Handley and see how many other Christians have become successful in the Church. They were HUMAN just like you! Do not meditate on past failures; it is a trick of the devil to form a failure image on your mind. Forget past failures – do not look back, except at the SUCCESSES and the GOOD! (Philippians 4:8.)

Looking back at past successes (and NOT looking back at past failures) is easy if you learn how to CONTROL YOUR THOUGHTS. Do NOT allow Satan to put bad images on your mind; and do not allow him to use the bad imaginations (image-thoughts) you can put on your mind. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds); casting down imaginations [of your own and arguments of others], and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every though to the obedience of Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report: if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8.)

To be a good steward you must be IN CONTROL of the areas, domains, facilities, and personnel:

Over which God has placed you; and,

Over which God has given you power and authority.

The reason you must exercise control is so that you may carry out the work God has given you to do. You must do it the way God has told you to do it. You must CONTROL not only your thoughts, but also your ACTIVITIES. Have a plan.

Know where you are headed: each day and in the future – to the end of your life. You must be flexible and follow the leading of the Spirit. God may want you to change your plan(s) at times, but spend time alone with God so that you can hear from Him and establish your goals: both short-range and long-term (lifetime).

Each day when you arise (except your Sabbath day of rest) have a list already made out with the activities you want to accomplish numbered in order of importance (or, priority). To help you do this, every night, or whenever you find convenient time – although forming the habit of making out your list at the same time every day is best – write down on a sheet of paper the THINGS TO DO – or, activities – for the next day.

After you have made your list, go back over it and assign numbers (starting with 1) to the most important thing, and then the things of lesser importance. Then, make out another list, writing down the activities in order of importance: 1, 2, 3, etc. You may not accomplish all the things you have written down for the day; however, you will have accomplished the MOST IMPORTANT things. Again, allow for flexibility: the Holy Spirit may change your plans the next day; or, you may find the next day that Item 4 on your list should be exchanged for a position of higher priority with, for example, Item 2.

You must CONTROL the devil, Satan. Jesus said, Behold, I give unto you POWER over all the power of the enemy. (Luke 10:19). Jesus gave you POWER:

Over the demons (see verse 20);

Over the power of the devil;

Over Satan, himself.

This is part of the Covenant of Freedom which Jesus Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah of Israel) purchased for you with His own BLOOD! You are FREE: free from the devil, sin, and the world; and you are free to live holy and serve God!

In Matthew 12, verses 22-29, Jesus said, I cast out devils by the Spirit of God. How can one enter into the house of a strong man [or, the house of the devil], and spoil his goods, except he first BIND the strong man? And then he will spoil his house. The binding and loosing power of the Church is one of the teachings of Jesus. Jesus said, Whatever you will bind on earth will be bound in heaven: and whatever you will loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. (Matthew 18:18.)

Finally, you must exercise control over your associations. This does not mean you have to control your associates; but rather, be in control of the decision making process with regard to the person(s) with whom you will be associated and those with whom you will NOT be associated.

Remember KEY 1, be committed first to God and then God will lead you in whatever commitments you need to make to, or with, people. There are some people with whom it would NOT be profitable in the Spirit for you to be closely associated. This does not mean you do not love them, nor that you do not communicate with them or even work together with them, at times, in the work of the LORD. It does mean, however, that they are not your close associates.

One crucially important area to watch for is association with gossips. Never associate closely with gossips; never have them work for you. Love them and tell them about their sin. If a person gossips about other people, you can be sure that under the right circumstances that person will gossip about you!

By knowing this fact ahead of time and operating wisely you can save yourself (and the Lord’s work) from much harm. Be well advised (or, forewarned) to stay away from busybodies, gossips, and slanderers. Especially, have no close association with them, except to minister to them and help them.

Jesus ministered to thousands. He also had eleven disciples He poured his life into (the twelfth one was a devil, preordained by the Scriptures). However, Jesus also had a very close relationship with an inner circle of three: Peter, James and John. God has given you the FREEDOM TO CHOOSE and He will also give you the LEADING TO KNOW with whom to be closely associated.

Do NOT try to have associates just to have associates. If God wants you to have some close associates He will cross your path with those of like mind and faith; those with whom you can:

Have wonderful fellowship;

Have common faith to believe God for great things;

Share personal needs, wants, or dreams (aspirations).

There may be times when God would have you (lead you by His Spirit) to dissolve relationships that are already established. You must be very careful to listen and obey God in these times or your ministry could suffer greatly.

When you dissolve a relationship with someone, it does not mean you do not love them, nor that you do not communicate with them (unless God is leading you NOT to communicate with them). Remember, the key is: Be committed first to God!

Be responsible. Be available to help others in whatever way God leads you. You may have to sweat and work hard. You may shed tears at times, but you will have the JOY of the LORD, and that will be your strength.

Serve God because you love Him and you are thankful for what He has done for you – and for what He is doing for you even NOW that you MAY NOT SEE or know about – and then thank Him for what He will do for you in the future! Pray in your language and in tongues: ask for only the associates God has chosen for you.
