HOW GOD WORKS FOR YOU – PART A

There are many ways God has to help you. Many times He or His angels are working ahead of time … or right on time … in unseen ways to deliver you, to prosper you, and to bring you into a place of super productivity.

Remember, God is FOR YOU. If you ever doubt this, look at the cross stake where Messiah gave His life as atonement for our sins. If, when we were God’s enemies, He loved us so much that He sent His only son to die for us, how much more, now that we are His friends, does He want to make us whole in every area of our lives.[Brit Chadashah: Romans 5:10]

God has every detail of your life covered. If you walk in constant communion with Him … if the Holy Spirit is your best Friend … and if you are involved in kingdom work, then you can expect His VERY BEST for you.

At times, the enemy may try to attack you through fear. Fear is a spirit. Fear is the opposite of love. God is love. Perfect love casts out ALL fear. “There is NO fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear: because fear has torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love.” [Brit Chadashah: 1 John 4:18]

Speak to the spirit (demon) of fear; take your authority over it, bind it in Yeshua’s (Jesus’) name and cast it back to the pit of hell. Use the Word of God against the enemy: “For God has not given me the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” [2 Timothy 1:7]

There are times when the devil would try to come against you with a protracted period of fear. This may, or may not, involve people, as agents of the enemy. This is a GOOD SIGN. This tells you that what you are doing … or about to do … is scaring the devil. The enemy is afraid. Since he is a liar, and the father of liars, then you know he is “bluffing you”. Don’t be afraid to “call his hand” just like you would in a game of poker. The difference is that you’re going to use your Heavenly Father’s resources (you have the BEST hand!).

In this kind of situation, do the following:

Fast.
Wait on God; listen.
Then do what God tells you.

You may not even have to do anything. The fast may take care of the situation itself. And, remember: If you walk in constant communion with Him … if the Holy Spirit is your best Friend … and if you are involved in kingdom work, then you can expect His VERY BEST for you. There are many ways God works for you and many of these are “behind the scenes” operations: “covert” if you will.

GOD IS ALWAYS READY TO WORK FOR YOU

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you shall go; I will guide you with my eye.” [Psalm 32:8]

Realize that this promise is both “individual” and “corporate”.God is not only working for YOU, but also for those PEOPLE under your tutelage and leadership. He wants you to KNOW His deliverance, direction, and dynamics: for your sake, as well as the sake of those people under your watch care.

To make sure we are the recipients of His instruction, teaching, and guidance we need to be open to His leading and to be Spirit controlled. The verse immediately following the one above tells us, “Don’t be like the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding, and whose mouths must be held in with bit and bridle.” [Psalm 32:9] This is why we need to be in God’s Word every day, talking with Him, listening, and sharing our faith with others: to have understanding of His ways and NOT going our own ways.

GOD WANTS TO WORK FOR YOU IF YOU WILL GIVE HIM THE GLORY

In the Tanakh, in the Book of Judges (Chapter Six) we read that the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord; and the Lord delivered them into the and of Midian seven years. Then they cried out to the Lord and, as a result, God raised up a deliverer named Gideon. Gideon had a band of 32,000 people ready to go to war. But God told Gideon, “The people that are with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, because [your people] Israel will boast in a vain way saying, ‘Our hands won the battle [it wasn't God]‘.” [Judges 7:2]

GOD KNOWS HOW TO WIN YOUR BATTLE – JUST LISTEN TO HIM

The Lord told Gideon, “Whoever is FEARFUL and AFRAID, let him return and depart early … and 22,000 people returned; and there remained 10,000.” Next, the Lord told Gideon, “The people are still too many.” God then had Gideon separate the remaining people into two groups, depending upon how they drank water: if they bowed down upon their knees, or if they put their hand to their mouth and lapped the water with their tongues as a dog laps. God then told Gideon he would save them by the 300 men that lapped, and the other 9,700 were sent home.

GOD CAN GIVE YOU A SIGN THROUGH YOUR ENEMIES

That same night the Lord told Gideon to go down to the host of the enemy because he was going to deliver them into Gideon’s hands. The Lord told Gideon, “But if you are AFRAID to go down then take your servant with you and you shall hear what the enemy says.” One of the enemy soldiers had a dream and Gideon heard him tell another soldier about the dream. The soldier said the dream was about Gideon, a man of Israel, “for into his hand God has delivered us [Midian and all the host].”

That is exactly what happened! That night the Lord gave Gideon and his band of men a GIANT victory. Only 300 with Gideon and they defeated the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east who were in the valley like grasshoppers in multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude. [Judges 7:12]

Remember: one person plus God is a MAJORITY! Be watchful for those situations where God can invade the enemy through you and where God will receive ALL the glory! The Lord can use those situations to bring deliverance, prosperity, and wholeness to multitudes of people. And God will be glorified because everyone will know you could never do these things on your own: they are MIRACLES!

“But thanks be unto God, which gives us the victory through our Lord Yeshua ha Meschiach (Jesus the Messiah).” [1 Corinthians 15:57]

In the next teaching we will discuss more in detail how God works “behind the scenes” to bring mass deliverance of nations and groups of people. Pray that God will guide you into the ministry of “national deliverance”.

HEALING THE EMOTION OF SHAME

---

Guilt is a reality. Shame is the emotion that tries to paralyze you because of guilt!

Isaiah the prophet tells us, “For your shame you shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess the double; everlasting joy shall be unto them.” (Isaiah 61:7)

Shame in the passage above is the Hebrew word “bosheth” which means both the “feeling of shame AND the condition of shame . . . as well as its cause.” It can also include “confusion.”

But the GOOD NEWS is that God loves you, and when you relinquish the cause of the guilt in your life to Him, He will turn it around. You will be able to rejoice when the LORD has brought healing into the situation that produced the reality of guilt!

If that shame has been imposed upon you by other people, God will even turn it around and bless you back with DOUBLE [Hebrew "mishneh"] for the trouble and the confusion that has been caused.

Historically, this passage refers to Israel and their desolation of many centuries by foreign [gentile] powers; and their final deliverance, with the result of festivities, joy and blessing as part of Messiah’s reign when He returns. However, the principle embodied here is a universal principle of God: just as much as gravity, sowing and reaping, and laws of physics such as the displacement of water. However, to activate this principle, it must be appropriated by faith! It is a promise from the God of Israel.

There are many examples of shame experienced by people of God in the Bible. None of us are perfect: that’s why we need a Savior! Abraham sold his wife two times. Moses killed a man in anger. David committed adultery and murder. Peter denied Messiah three times in one night.

We see that Adam’s shame was manifested in hiding. In Revelation 3:18, Jesus admonished the Church at Laodicea to “. . . buy of me white raiment, that you may be clothed, [so] that the shame of our nakedness does not appear . . .”

There are several types of shame:

• Adamic shame

• Inherited shame

• Actual shame

• Imposed shame

Every one of these types of shame may be remitted, or canceled, by the atonement of Christ. The BLOOD of Christ paid for you and your sins, and provides healing for shame.

The verdict of guilt, whether real or imagined, is shame. It may be something inherited from Adam (who brought sin into the world as the federal head of the race); or it may be something inherited from ancestral, or family lines.

It may be actual shame, resulting from an action you have initiated. And . . . it may be psychological shame . . . real or false shame that people or demon spirits have tried to impose upon you, resulting in oppression, rejection, physical or mental sickness, and lack of production.

Jesus Christ bore your shame. Hebrews 12:2 tells us that our Lord Jesus despised the shame of the cross and his nakedness thereon, but went through it because of the JOY set before Him: that is, He saw YOU able to be made whole and to know God, with your sins forgiven and having eternal life, as the result of His sacrifice.

Jesus despised shame . . . and He despises it in YOUR life. He died for YOU so that you do NOT have to carry shame. He carried it for YOU!

He is alive to remit guilt and its resultant shame from your life today. You can appropriate the healing in His shed BLOOD for you by calling on Him today. Pray and ask Him to deliver you.

You can get back up . . . because He got back up!

“He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of mine and declare it to you.” [John 16:14-15]

Are you having trouble believing for GREAT THINGS – impossible things – in your life and ministry? How big can you THINK? How big can you ASK? Make sure your plans and your goals go BEYOND what you can do. When you enter the realm of impossibility, then you are in God’s realm: the realm of MIRACLES. Then, He will have to get the glory!

Don’t hesitate to BELIEVE BIG!

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above ALL that we ASK or THINK, according to the power that works in us . . .” [Ephesians 3:20]

Go ahead and START that new work for God . . . for His glory!

HERE IS THE INTERPRETATION OF THE MESSAGE IN TONGUES

You have left much, but not all.

Parts were taken, you did not leave them.

HERE IS A PROPHECY TO ENCOURAGE YOU AND THAT WORK YOU WANT TO DO

I FINISHED THE WORK.

I came to be wounded in combat.

I shed my BLOOD and gave My life to HEAL the SEPARATION between God and man.

I defeated the enemy.

I bought you to God with My own blood.

You now belong to God.

You have My Word and the promises in My Word.

You have the Holy Spirit: the Other One Who empowers you and guides you into all truth.

You have resurrection power which assures your success, and even in failure restores you.

You have My Name. Use My Name to vanquish the enemy and to obtain MIRACLES, resources, and joy.

You have the ministry of the Holy Angels to help you and protect you.

FINISH THE WORK I have assigned you: short term and long term.

BE PATIENT.

BE AT PEACE.

AN IMPORTANT ASPECT OF SUCCESS IN YOUR NEW WORK FOR GOD IS THIS:

CONDESCEND TO MEN OF LOW ESTATE

I was in a church one time which consistently does lots of good work to help homeless and disadvantaged people. However, after the service there were three homeless men sitting in the lobby at a table but nobody was talking to them. A friend asked me if I would sit with them and talk to them. I was very glad to do so and had a wonderful conversation with them.

I wonder if lots of time we feel that just because we give money to charities or the homeless or other missions to indigent people that we are doing our duty. I wonder if we are really being a “friend to the friendless.” People like to be recognized . . . and they like to feel accepted. Jesus taught us, “As you would like people to do to you, do exactly so to them.” [Luke 6:31]

The scripture which contains the words the LORD spoke to me is Romans 12:16: “Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.” The Greek word used here for “condescend” is the word “sunapago” and means “to take off together,” that is, “transport with.”

One time I was telling a friend, who is an executive pastor of a rapidly growing church, that I have about two inches of letters (not counting all the emails) requesting me to come hold seminars to train pastors and Christian workers and to hold miracle meetings. The other person told me: “You should get to know [name withheld] because he has lots of money.” I thought to myself, “Why in the world do would I want to know someone just because they have money?!”

Take a look at the several Bible versions I have listed below and see their translation and/or paraphrase of Romans 12:16, and what it means to “condescend to men of low estate.”

New Jerusalem Bible:

“Give the same consideration to all others alike. Pay no regard to social standing, but meet humble people on their own terms. [Do not congratulate yourself on your own wisdom.]”

New American Bible:

“Have the same regard for one another, do not be haughty but associate with the lowly; do not be wise in your own estimation.”

Revised English Bible:

“Live in agreement with one another. Do not be proud, but be ready to mix with humble people. Do not keep thinking how wise you are.”

New Revised Standard Version:

“Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty but associate with the lowly. [Do not claim to be wiser than you are.]”

The Living Bible:

“Work happily together. Don’t try to act big. Don’t try to get into the good graces of important people, but enjoy the company of ordinary folks. And don’t think you know it all.”

The Good News Bible:

Have the same concern for everyone. Do not be proud, but accept humble duties [or make friends with humble people]. Do not think of yourselves as wise.”

I searched what different men of God in the past (and others) thought about this passage in Romans 12:16. I have listed them below.

“There is nothing that disrupts harmony as much as seeking glory, when every man detests a base estate, and ambitiously seeks to be exalted.” [Geneva Bible Notes]

“Be a companion of the humble, and pass through life with as little noise and show as possible. Let the poor, godly man be your chief companion; and learn from his humility and piety to be humble and godly. The term “sunapagomenoi,” which we translate condescend, from “sun, together,” and “apagw, to lead,” signifies to be led, carried, or dragged away to prison with another; and points out the state in which the primitive Christians were despised and rejected of men, and often led forth to prison and death.” [Adam Clarke’s Commentary]

“It does not properly mean to condescend, but denotes a yielding, or being guided and led in the thoughts, feelings, plans, by humble objects. Christians should seek the objects of interest and companionship not among the great, the rich, and the noble, but among the humble and the obscure. They should do it because their Master did it before them; because his friends are most commonly found among those in humble life; because Christianity prompts to benevolence, rather than to a fondness for pride and display; and because of the influence on the mind produced by an attempt to imitate the great, to seek the society of the rich, and to mingle with the scenes of gaiety, folly, and ambition.” [Albert Barne’s Commentary]

“Sympathize and associate with the poor, humble, afflicted, especially such as suffer for righteousness’ sake.” [Family Bible Notes]

“Desire not riches, honour, or the company of the great.” [John Wesley]

“Instead of seeking pre-eminence, we are to walk in lowly spirit like our Savior.” [People’s New Testament Commentary]

“Be carried away with (borne along with) the lowly things” . . . or . . . “with lowly men.” [Robertson’s New Testament Word Pictures]

I trust today we will all reflect on how our LORD would have us to condescend to men of low estate, and pray that we might please Him in doing so . . . continuously.

REMEMBER … GOD IS FOR YOU

Do not hesitate to BELIEVE BIG!

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above ALL that we ASK or THINK, according to the power that works in us . . .” [Ephesians 3:20]

Go ahead and START that new work for God . . . for His glory!

THE POWER OF A SEPARATED LIFE

After I became a Christian I committed quality time to memorizing scripture. One of the key Bible portions I memorized was as follows:

“Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? And, what communion has light with darkness?

Wherefore come out from among them, and you be separate, says the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

And I will be a Father unto you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” [2 Corinthians 6:14, 17-18]

I didn’t have to leave my friends when I became a Christian; they left me! When my lifestyle became different and my interests were focused in Godly avenues, there was no common ground. However, I still witnessed to my friends, and prayed for them, and loved them with Christ’s compassion. Thankfully, many of them are now Christians who serve the Lord, including my immediate birth family, uncles, aunts, cousins . . . and now all of my children and grandchildren.

What a beautiful promise! God will be a Father to us: He will protect us, provide for us, and be personal in His relationship to us. Do you want to have a REALLY CLOSE walk with the Lord? Then learn and practice the beauty of a separated life.

In this newsletter we will study the PURPOSE, the PRIVILEGE, the PROTECTION, and the PRODUCTIVITY of a separated life.

THE PURPOSE OF A SEPARATED LIFE

Why live a separated life?

“As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as He which has called you is holy, so you be holy in all manner of behavior; because it is written, ‘You be holy, for I am holy’.” [Leviticus 11:45; 1 Peter 1:15-16]

THE PRIVILEGE OF SEPARATION

Why is it a privilege to live a separated life?

“For as much as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver and gold, from your vain manner of living which you received by tradition from your fathers; but you were redeemed with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: who truly was foreordained BEFORE the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for YOU.” [1 Peter 1:18-20]

“According as He has CHOSEN us in Him BEFORE the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.” [Ephesians 1:4]

THE PROTECTION OF SEPARATION

Living a separated life of holiness unto the Lord provides extra angelic protection for the believer.

“The angel of the Lord encamps around those that fear Him and delivers them.” [Psalm 34:7]

“Because you have made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the Most High, your habitation; there shall no evil befall you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. For He shall give his angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.” [Psalm 91:9-11 - read the whole Psalm]

“And he answered, fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.” [2 Kings 6:16-17]

Other examples: Daniel in the den of lions and the three Hebrew teenagers in the furnace of fire. These were Hebrews, who as teenagers had separated themselves unto God.

THE PRODUCTIVITY OF SEPARATION

Why is it productive to live a separated life?

“Let everyone that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor.

If a person therefore cleanses himself from these [the works of dishonor and iniquity], he shall be a vessel unto honor, set apart, worthy, competent and profitable for the master’s use, prepared unto every good work.” [2 Timothy 2:19-21]

The greatest blessing you can have on earth is to walk with God!

Enoch walked with God, and he was not found anymore here on earth because God took him. [Genesis 5:24]

Elijah walked with God, and when it was time for him to go to Heaven, he was taken up by angels in a chariot surrounded by fire. [2 Kings 2:11]

You say, “But Apostle Handley, these were SPECIAL people.” Yes, and so are YOU . . . if you WANT to be. They were special people because they wanted to be special people.

The question is: “Do you WANT to be SPECIAL?”

The Holy Bible shows us that Elijah was just like you and me. He had the same emotions, the same temptations, and the same faculties. “Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.” [James 5:17-18]

As we approach the last days of Planet Earth and the return of Israel’s Messiah we should all the more want to live a separated life. The Apostle Peter told us ahead of time:

“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of people should you be in all holy manner of living and godliness . . .” [2 Peter 3:10-11]

The Apostle Paul assigned Titus, a young preacher, the responsibility of pastoring and appointing elders in Crete and explained to him that it was profitable for believers to maintain good works. “This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that you affirm constantly, that those people who have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.” [Titus 3:8]

Paul also taught Timothy, who he placed in charge of the church at Ephesus, that there is great gain in living for God. “But godliness with contentment is great gain.” [1 Timothy 6:6]

If we are going to live a separated life so that we will be prepared to be used by the Master, then we have to be like a soldier. “You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, so that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.” [2 Timothy 2:3-4]

Holiness is the principle that separates the believer from the world. Holiness is a quality of personal conduct that consecrates us to God’s service. The Apostle Paul urged the believers in his day . . . and urges us today through the scripture . . . to walk in holiness and thereby please God.

“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor.” [1 Thessalonians 4:3-4]

Notice, in the verse above, that YOU are to POSSESS your vessel: you are the owner . . . you are in control. Don’t say “The devil made me do it!” Don’t say, “I couldn’t resist!” Have you been struggling with a certain temptation? Then get on your knees and CRY OUT to God. Ask Him to deliver you and sanctify you. The Bible says, “Call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.” [Psalm 50:15]

God is not dangling temptation in front of you to tempt you. “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither does he tempt anyone.” [James 1:13]

God has made a WAY for you to exit temptation, but you have to WANT to exit! “There has NO temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above that which you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.” [1 Corinthians 10:13]

In the original Greek of which this passage was written it is actually saying that God will do the same as cut a path through a rock for you to make a way for you to escape . . . IF you WANT to escape! Cry out to Him and He will deliver you! God loves you and wants to help you. He also wants to use you to help others!

God may allow you to be tested from time to time, but only to see if you are worthy of Him investing His future talents and gifts in you so that you can be used for GREAT WORKS. What if after you have been used greatly, you mess up and ruin your testimony? Or, what if you make God or His people look bad?

Set apart a time for prayer and fasting to consecrate yourself to His service. Pray for a consecrated life: a life set apart in holiness and separation so you can be a vessel unto honor . . . worthy, competent, and profitable for the Master’s use . . . prepared unto every good work.

The more you are in the arena and productive for God, the more you will be shot at! And there will be different times you will need to draw on God’s strength through prayer and fasting. But always remember, your best defense is a good offense. Keep reaching people for Christ . . . keep under the anointing!

CONCLUSION

In this newsletter we have studied the PURPOSE, the PRIVILEGE, the PROTECTION, and the PRODUCTIVITY of a separated life.

• I want to be like my Father in Heaven.

  • I am thankful for what Christ has done for me.

  • I want to be protected.

  • I want to be used in special ways.
